I’m a third-generation letterpress printer – both my father and grandfather were letterpress printers. I have many memories of my dad printing when I was younger – mainly the smell of the ink, the clunking of the machine in the understairs cupboard, and type literally everywhere!! I was always fascinated with the paper goods my dad produced, especially the wedding stationery – I loved the gold and silver inks.
I finally moved into printing after 20 years of working as a Quality Manager in the corporate world. I always felt a change was needed and had been planning a Letterpress business for years but actually doing it and making the jump was another matter.
My opportunity finally came in 2020 after being made redundant, it was the all-important shove I needed to make this happen.
My dad has slowly been passing everything he knows my way and I’m still learning new tricks of the trade as I go. Dad is still on hand at all times and loves working alongside me on my projects, in between his vegetable gardening that is!
I currently run things from my home in Battle, East Sussex where I reside with my husband and two boys, age 11 and 13.
